Substance abuse is a public health problem that </span><span style="font-family:arial;">affects millions<br />of Americans, regardless of age, cultural background, race or profession. PATH’s goal is </span><span style="font-family:arial;">to save lives, heal families and to move toward a<br />healthier society. </span> <span style="font-family:arial;"><br /><br />September is National Alcohol &amp; Drug Addiction Recovery Month, so our event will coincide with </span><span style="font-family:arial;">efforts made throughout the country to end discrimination against individuals who suffer from the </span><span style="font-family:arial;">disease of addiction. </span> <span style="font-family:arial;"><br /><br />A New PATH is an organization of parents, concerned citizens and community leaders working </span> <span style="font-family:arial;">together to reduce the stigma of substance abuse and addiction in order to increase access to </span> <span style="font-family:arial;">treatment services, and to advocate for “therapeutic justice” for substance abuse related crimes. </span> <span style="font-family:arial;">Our programs include the Self-Reflection Garden and a book club behind bars, the Faces of Recovery </span><span style="font-family:arial;">Calendar, quarterly newsletters, educational meetings, educational seminars, awareness of recovery </span><span style="font-family:arial;">events, and Parent Survival Kits. PATH’s goal is to reduce crime and recidivism, save lives, heal families </span><span style="font-family:arial;">and to move toward a healthier society. </span> <span style="font-family:arial;"><br /><br />The day will include a silent auction, boutique, luncheon, fashion show and awards ceremony.
